The tour comes to Bangor, Maine on Friday, September 28 at the Waterfront Park. Kicking off July 21 in San Bernardino, CA, Journey’s tour alongside Loverboy and Benatar (who is joined by her longtime guitarist and husband Neil Giraldo) has nationwide amphitheater shows scheduled through mid October. The tour will go until December, and additional tour dates will be announced shortly. The full list of dates is below.

The current incarnation of Journey — featuring vocalist Arnel Pineda in place of original frontman Steve Perry — will celebrate the release of a new documentary about Pineda, Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey, next month when the film closes the San Francisco International Film Festival.

Benatar has remained a constant touring presence, hitting the road on her own and with the likes of Blondie, REO Speedwagon and The Bangles. Loverboy, meanwhile, received inadvertent attention in 2011 through a memorable placement on TV’s 30 Rock, when a character (Pete Hornberger) reveals a secret past as Loverboy’s original bassist (hint: he was not).

Legacy Recordings will release a myriad of remastered Graceland special edition goodies on June 5, including a collector’s edition two-CD, two-DVD box set that comes with an 80-page book on Paul Simon, original Graceland posters, and The Story of Graceland audio feature narrated by Simon. In addition to the new Under African Skies documentary included in the box set, there’s another DVD that includes Simon’s 1987 African Concert from Zimbabwe, music videos, interviews and more.

That’s a whole lot of Graceland, so Legacy is also releasing separately releasing the 25th anniversary remastered recording on CD and vinyl (which will be out April 21 as part of Record Store Day), as well as the Under African Skies DVD and Blu-Ray.

Fans who still have a trusty copy of Graceland may just be interested in the Under African Skies documentary, which follows Simon back to South Africa 25 years after the creation of Graceland and features interviews with David Byrne, Quincy Jones, Peter Gabriel and more. The rock doc, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, will begin a limited run in New York and L.A. on May 11th, as well as a handful of smaller film festivals.

After that, the Joe Berlinger-directed documentary will make a TV debut on A&E; no date has been announced. Watch a preview of Under African Skies below.

So many ways to celebrate Graceland, which Simon will perform in full alongside African group Ladysmith Black Mambazo during a handful of European dates this summer.

Lionel Richie’s Tuskegee, featuring a brand-new duet of “Endless Love” with Shania Twain, reportedly was briefly out-selling Madonna’s new album MDNA for a short time, as of the wee hours Tuesday morning. But as of 11:11 a.m., Madonna appears to have gained the #1 spot.

What about the other big online music chart at Amazon? Well, as of 11:13 a.m. Tuesday morning, Richie still has the lead. Adele’s monster hit album 21 also continues to outsell MDNA there.

Which album will win out in the end? Technically both albums will be winners here, as both appear likely to sell big. But the first week will be a dogfight until the end to see who debuts at #1.

The legendary group’s argument is the same as many other artists who have sued record labels in recent years, that the sale of their music online should count as a “license” rather than a “sale” of the material.

What’s the difference between those two terms? The Temptations’ 1993 contract with UMG grants them 14-16 percent of the revenue from sales, but 50 percent for licensing. Since they signed the contract years before digital downloads were even available, conflicts are inevitable.

And of course, Universal is treating all digital downloads from iTunes, Amazon and other sites as sales rather than licenses. And the group believe Universal owes them millions in unpaid royalties. Their 13 lawyers agree.

The suit also lists other famous classic artists on the UMG label, like Eric Clapton, The Police, James Brown, and The Who. But perhaps their strongest argument in the case comes from Steve Jobs himself, the mastermind behind iTunes, who said the following in an essay called “Thoughts on Music”:

“Since Apple does not own or control any music itself, it must license the rights to distribute music from others, primarily the ‘big four’ music companies: Universal, Sony BMG, Warner, and EMI.”

This lawsuit, plus the others being filed against record companies and the recent settlement Sony had with the Allman Brothers, continues to prove that there is a desperate need for artists, providers, and especially record labels, to create a whole new protocol for digital downloads. They simply cannot be treated the same as physical sales, or as terms written into contracts signed before even the internet was popular, let alone downloading music.

The legendary pianist tells Rolling Stone that this new LP will once again pay homage to the early part of his career, as most of the album will feature basic piano-bass-drums instrumentation, comparing the set-up to Elton’s live record 11-17-70.

“I don’t believe Fleetwood Mac will ever tour again, but I really hope we do,” Mick said, according Daily Telegraph.

The band planned to reunite for a major world tour in 2010 after trekking through Australia in 2009. Solo albums from Lindsey Buckingham and Nicks (which Mick played drums on) brought Fleetwood Mac’s momentum to a halt, but hopes still rested on the idea of gathering the troops in 2011. The band, sans Nicks, even spent most of 2010 preparing themselves for the stage.

“We have rehearsed and prepared for it since 2010. We were supposed to tour in 2011, but we delayed it for a year to allow Stevie Nicks to support her solo record and for Lindsey Buckingham to do the same with his.”

Fleetwood has always been supportive of other band members solo efforts, but it appears he may be at the end of his rope regarding Nicks, who seems consumed by her personal project.

“I understand what she likes about her situation: Touring in support of her album, she is able to be her, without any degree of compromise. She doesn’t have to worry about the other three of us asking her to do anything… She has become obsessed with her album in a very nice but inconvenient way.”

Whitney became the first woman with three albums in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 at the same time, according to Billboard.

Whitney: the Greatest Hits sits at #2 with 174,000 sales, while the soundtrack to The Bodyguard jumped from #38 to #6 with 47,000 sales. Her self-titled album Whitney Houston also made a big leap, from #37 to #9. Since her passing, Whitney has sold about 668,000 albums and over 2.76 million individual tracks.

The last artist with three appearances in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 was Simon & Garfunkel in 1968. But according to Billboard, the top 200 has only allowed older albums to rank alongside new releases since December of 2009. Michael Jackson and the Beatles would each accomplished Whitney’s feat earlier that year.
