Michael Jackson “Beat It” Wins Big at Grammys: Today’s ’80s Flashback

Michael Jackson won Record of the Year and Best Rock Vocal Performance at the 1984 Grammy Awards for “Beat It.” Click through the jump to watch it!

Jackson’s album Thriller and its many classic songs earned the then-25-year-old singer 12 Grammy nominations, and he won eight awards total that night, also including Album of the Year.

Sting won Song of the Year, however, for “Every Breath You Take” by The Police.
