On this day in 2009, New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg celebrated the release of U2 album No Line on the Horizon by renaming one of Manhattan’s streets.

A section of 53rd Street in Manhattan was temporarily renamed to “U2 Way” in honor of the band and their week-long appearance on Letterman that same week.

Safe to say the band was floored by the honor of having a street named after them – and throwing off New York’s entire “grid” map system in the process!
