Divorce papers from 2007 show that Bobby Brown tried collecting spousal support money from Whitney Houston (even thought it violated their prenuptial agreement) as a sort of “payback” for the time he paid $10,000 for her to go to rehab while he was basically homeless.
Brown said in the 2007 divorce papers:
“Whitney took Bobbi Kris without my prior knowledge or consent, and moved to Orange County, California, where Whitney received treatment for her drug addiction…. Although I was having severe financial problems, I did all I could to see my daughter.”
“I came to California to be near Bobbi Kris. I also paid approximately $10,000 for Whitney and Bobbi Kris to live in a nice hotel while Whitney was going through rehab. At the same time, I basically lived out of my car.”
Whitney Houston never paid a dime to Bobby because, according to her belief, he was very well capable of earning money on his own.
She declared in her divorce filings:
“Bobby is fully capable of working and earning substantial sums of money if he would control his personal behavior. It is his personal conduct that keeps him from earning substantial amounts of money.”
Marriages, especially high-profile Hollywood marriages, have the potential of turning into a divorce disaster right from the words “I do.”
Russell Brand and Katy Perry’s divorce proves that Hollywood divorces can be amicable – but they are few and very far between.
