Julie Taymor, the former director of the disastrous Spiderman musical, was let go by Bono and The Edge after receiving poor reviews from critics.

She has since gone on the offensive in a lawsuit, claiming that she was “fraudulently induced” into working on the project after it had already been determined by the U2 members that she would be released.

Taymor successfully sued the show’s producers for hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages after proving she was not compensated for work done on the musical prior to her release. She was also able to receive future earnings from the show.

Producers are now counter-suing the disgruntled director.

Taymor’s lawyers have filed a response to the countersue, stating that a plan was in place ”to make changes to the musical without Taymor’s knowledge during the show’s preview period.”

How does Bono and The Edge fit into all this?

Supposedly they were complicit in the plans to undermine and remove Taymor, who had artistic differences with the producers and U2.
