While no official word has come down yet on a possible 50th anniversary tour, it’s good to see that some overall progress is being made.
The Rolling Stones: 50 will be released on July 12, 2012 – a half century after the day of their first show, at London’s Marquee Club.
The photo book will include choice images selected by members of the group with captions in their own words.
The band said in a statement:
“This is our story of fifty fantastic years. We started out as a blues band playing the clubs and more recently we’ve filled the largest stadiums in the world with the kind of show that none of us could have imagined all those years ago. Curated by us, it features the very best photographs and ephemera from and beyond our archives.”
Guitarist Keith Richards released a video message last week and mentioned nothing regarding plans for a Stones 50th Anniversary, which was alarming to fans.
With the announcement of this photo book, fans can all breathe a collective sigh of relief in the hopes that more good news is on the horizon!
