The guitarist recently said that Aerosmith’s time will come later in the year and that one of their new songs could debut on American Idol in May.

Frontman Steven Tyler is busy shooting the new season of the hit reality TV show American Idol through May – so currently he is unavailable to record with the band.

However, the rest of the group is creating new music in his absence. Once his judging stint is over, he will rejoin them.

Brad Whitford talked a little bit about Aerosmith’s upcoming plans and when they hope to debut some of their new songs.

He said:

“I think people are going to see a lot of Aerosmith later in the year. We’ve got a new song that’s gonna be used in a major motion picture this summer, so that’s probably the first new music fans will get to hear. We may even debut it on ‘American Idol’ in May. We’re definitely planning on touring the U.S. later in the summer.”

Whitford said about the new CD:

“As for the new CD, the music is done — we’re just waiting to get some of the vocals added in. Hopefully, we’ll have that done sooner rather than later. It’s been a decade since we last had new music out, and I know I’m ready for it.”

That’s gotta be frustrating for a band ready to release a new CD but CAN’T because their lead singer is on some reality TV show.

However, I’m sure they’re not complaining. Because without American Idol, Aerosmith would not be as relevant. Fact.

Just check the numbers.
