It’s been revealed that American Idol finalist Jermaine Jones, the 6 foot 8 inch “gentle giant,” made up a lie almost as large as his stature.
Jones went to ‘Idol’ producers and shared with them a sad story about how his deadbeat dad abandoned him and his family 10 years ago. Well, it turns out that’s not true at all.

Jones made up this lie after last week’s show. He approached the American Idol producers and said he was “extremely upset” that his dad called him “out of the blue” to reconnect now that he’s famous and in the Hollywood limelight.
However, Jermaine’s dad Kevin says the story is absurd and 100% false. He claims he had an ongoing relationship with his son through the years and even had dinner with him twice last week.
Kevin also says that his son was lying about the phone call and that he was actually in the audience last week to support Jermaine.
TMZ spoke with the production people on Idol and they are “shocked” Jermaine would tell such a blatant lie to their faces.
What’s even more interesting was Jermaine’s choice of song for last week’s show, “Dance With My Father.”
It’s merely speculation, but it seems to me that Jermaine chose this song to serve as an opening to tell his fake story.
What do you think?
