Keith Richards: 2012 Isn’t Our 50th Anniversary Anyway!

For Stones fans who are upset that the veteran rockers won’t take to the road for their half-century celebration, Keith Richards says not to worry because 2012 isn’t their real 50th anniversary anyway.

Both Keith Richards and Mick Jagger sat down with London’s Daily Mirror to make peace with each other after their time-tested relationship was on the verge of complete ruination.

They’re doing much better now and have finally put their troubled past behind them.

Mick Jagger said:

“Looking back at any career you are bound to recall both the highs and the lows. In the 1980s, for instance, Keith and I were not communicating very well. I got very involved with the business side of the Stones, mainly because I felt no one else was interested. But it’s plain now from the book that Keith felt excluded, which is a pity. Time, I reckon, to move on.”

And move on they shall – however, a reunion tour will not take place in 2012. This has nothing to do with Mick and Keith’s relationship. It has everything to do with Keith’s health, which won’t be ready until at least next year.

Not to worry, says Keith, because 2013 is their real 50th anniversary anyway.

How so?

Keith explains:

“We look upon 2012 as 50 years since the inception, but 50 years since the birth is actually next year,” noting that drummer Charlie Watts didn’t join the band until 1963.

For now, fans will just have to wait until July and September – where separate releases of a photographic autobiography and a documentary will become available.
