Aerosmith: Behind The Hits

Today I take a look a song that one band member said, has ‘no energy!’

Dream On came about as [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Steven Tyler[/lastfm] was trying figure out how to write songs, just a little sonnet he played on the piano when he was a teen. He never though it would end up being a real song.

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Joe Perry[/lastfm] didn’t like the song at all. He said back in the early days playing tiny bars and clubs, it was all about doing high energy rock n’ roll and Dream On was ballad. Perry said:

I don’t know if we really played it much live, in those days if you only had half an hour to make your mark, you didn’t play slow songs. So it wasn’t until after it became a single that we really started playing it.

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Aerosmith[/lastfm] first performed this at the Shaboo Inn in Willimantic, Connecticut. They were paid $175 and a bottle of gin for the show.
