KC And The Sunshine Band: Behind The Hits

Today I take a look the shoes.

“Boogie Shoes” was written by KC (Harry Wayne Casey) and his bass player Richard Finch. KC explained that back in the disco era it was about high, heeled rhinestone shoes, glimmering outfits and parting all night in the clubs.

From their self-titled album KC and the Sunshine Band, it became a bigger hit when it was included the movie and soundtrack: Saturday Night Fever, remember that movie?

KC said he never expected it to be on the soundtrack at all, but figured movie director Rob Stigwood felt it would be perfect for the scene where shoes were a big part of that disco facade.
