Bobby V Fact #1: Served As Director Of Public Safety In Stamford, CT

Let’s give a quick recap of the Bobby Valentine facts we’ve provided throughout the day: He’s a champion ballroom dancer who was once fired by a future world leader. Not only that, he’s a savvy restaurateur who invented the wrap sandwich and is basically one, giant high school yearbook superlative.

But did you know that before taking the Red Sox managerial position, Bobby V served as the Public Safety Director in his hometown of Stamford, CT?

On January 13, 2011, Bobby Valentine was named Director of Public Safety for the city of Stamford by Mayor Michael Pavia.

Now I know what you’re probably thinking, that this was probably just some publicity stunt as a way to honor their local hero.

Not true at all.

Bobby V took the job very seriously, even warning residents of snowstorms via voicemail.

Bobby V received $10,000 for the salary position, which he donated to a local charity.

Love him or hate him, there will never be a dull moment with Bobby Valentine as manager of the Red Sox.
