The Boston Celtics have shocked the sports world with their unbelievable playoff run, culminating so far with a three-game winning streak against the Miami Heat and a chance to close them out tonight in Game 6 at the Garden. Let us get you pumped for the game with our official playlist.
AC/DC – “TNT”
Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce have described previous games and series, including the current one with the Heat, as “a bar fight.” There might be no more bad-ass song to play when stepping up to battle than the AC/DC classic “TNT.” Bon Scott’s lyrics warn his opponents not to “mess around,” which the Heat seem to be doing throughout this series. The Celtics must still be very confident they’ll win tonight’s fight.
The Who – “Join Together”
The band, the team…What’s the difference? Even though Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo have been major factors for the Celtics in the series, it has truly been a team effort by the C’s in their three wins. Role players like Keyon Dooling, Greg Stiemsma and Mikael Pietrus have stepped up to give quality minutes off the bench, allowing the team to join together in victory. Hopefully for Celtics fans they come together one more time to close out the Heat.
Journey – “Don’t Stop Believing”
The Celtics’ playoff run this summer has made everyone, including many of us here in Boston, wonder why we ever stopped believing in them. They are obviously much older than the Heat and have dealt with significant injuries, while the Heat have the two most talented players in the series. But Kevin Garnett is playing some of the best basketball of his career and Paul Pierce & others have come up big in clutch situations in the series. So let’s all apologize to the guys in green for failing to believe in them.
The Doors – “The End”
All things considered, tonight’s game really should be the end of the series. The Celtics played with fire and came through in the clutch on the road in Game 5, so there’s no reason to believe they wouldn’t come out with even more intensity in tonight’s home game at the Garden. So this is the end for the Heat and the Eastern Conference Finals. The “blue bus” Jim Morrison references in the lyrics must be the Celtics team bus on its way to Oklahoma City.
