The sky was overcast and the air was cool Saturday night, but that didn’t stop thousands of WODS fans from packing the DCR Hatch Memorial Shell and wrapping up in blankets as Starship feat. Mickey Thomas took the stage for the inaugural show of the 2012 WODS Summer Concert Series.

Opening act the Paisley Project warmed the crowd up covering a host of classic hits, including a cover of the Bee Gees which the band dedicated to the late Robin Gibb. That and much of the rest of their set had some in the audience out of their seats and dancing before Starship even began.

Once Mickey Thomas took the microphone to launch Starship into their headlining set, the crowd was more than ready. The band jumped right into it with “Laying It On The Line” and “No Way Out,” while Thomas showcased his still-spectacular vocal range and guitarist Mark Abrahamian ripped through his guitar solos.
